2009 estimates for returns to the Columbia River are 1.1 million to 1.2 million Coho Salmon and 300,000 Chinook Salmon. I expect to have 40 to 50 fish hook-up days during this fishery so this is going to be your fishery if you want to put Salmon on your table. It’s going to be a gas! Your day will consist of fishing from Tongue Point to Bouy 10 depending on the day and the tides. The fish will be fresh from the ocean on their journey back from the Coastal reaches of Alaska and Canada, in good numbers by the 15^th of August through the first 2 weeks in September. 

Grant Putnam typically fishes with 6 people per day in a 26 foot North River Scout with ample room for 6 guests and all of their gear. We provide all tackle, G-Loomis fishing rods, and Diawa reels. 

The Columbia Estuary is a great fishery for experienced fisherman and beginners alike.
Corporate Outings, Men, Women and Children all enjoy the simple yet active fishing experience.  

Astoria is a historic port with nautical appeal both on the water as well as in the town. Along
with some excellent restaurants, Silver Salmon Grille and T. Paul’s Urban café, Astoria hosts a number of events throughout the year.  

May 10^th through October 4^th Astoria holds a Sunday Market where a 3 block stretch of 12^th
street downtown features over a hundred vendors, all of whom have grown or made what they are offering for sale.  

June 19^th – 28^th you can catch Astoria’s festival of music which features operatic, symphonic,
and chamber music performances at the historic Liberty Theater.  

Finally, June 19^th – 21^st you will be able to experience the Midsummer Scandinavian Festival, three days of dancing, music, food, trolls and colorful costumes. (Wow, this Scandinavian Festival sounds like it could be legit fun. We’re combining trolls and alcohol here people, give it a chance.) 

There are also quite a few museums and historic sights including the Columbia River Maritime Museum and the Firefighters Museum with a Children’s Museum on the second floor.
